Top 10 K-Beauty Products For Winter

Winter is almost upon us!

You've probably been told that the cold is good for your skin, which is true to a certain extent. Cold weather can be a blessing for people with oily and acne-prone skin. Cooler temperatures reduce inflammation and lower your chances of blackheads and whiteheads substantially.

But at the same time, cold weather can leave your skin dehydrated, cracked, chapped, tight, irritated and so many other things! This is especially true for combination, sensitive, or dry skin types.

But fret not! Keoji is here to help get you through the winter with supple, hydrated, and soft skin. Here are our product recommendations to help you survive the cold:

1. Cosrx's Oil Free Ultra Moisturising Lotion with Birch Sap

No matter your skin type, using a moisturiser is a must year-round. Winter weather is especially drying and can leave your skin tight and cracked, which in turn can irritate it. Cosrx's Oil-Free Ultra-Moisturising Lotion is super hydrating and perfect for giving your skin that hydration boost to leave it supple and smooth. The fact that it's oil-free means it's also perfect for oily and acne-prone skin types, as it won't clog pores!

2. Banila Co's Clean It Zero Cleansing Balm

This cult classic is perfect for removing makeup and impurities year-round, but its gentle exfoliation and hydrating formula make it great for winter. The cold mornings and nights mean you just want to snuggle under the covers and sleep all day, but removing makeup and cleansing your face twice a day is necessity if you want to avoid pimples! This cleansing balm gently removes makeup and any other build-up or pollution your face has packed on during the day/night, and provides a soft, irritation free exfoliation, perfect for removing dry and chapped skin!

3. Shiseido's Senka Perfect Whip Cleansing Foam

Chilly weather can make your skin sensitive and highly susceptible to irritation. A lot of gel or liquid cleansers and scrubs can be too harsh on skin in winter, and can leave your skin red and irritated in the long run. That's why we recommend a soft and gentle foam cleanser for the cooler months (this one is the texture of whipped cream). The cleanser works best when used after an oil cleanser such as the Banila Co cleansing balm above, as it can be a little drying, particularly if you have naturally dry skin.

4. Laneige's Water Sleeping Mask

The thick and rich formulation of this mask makes it a winter time favourite! It's cooling and soothing on the skin, which is perfect for those who get sore and irritated skin throughout the day. The mask should be applied at the end of your skincare routine, before you go to bed, as it locks in moisture and readies your skin to look supple and gorgeous the next day! It has super hydrating properties, making it great for sensitive and/or dry skin types, and a subtle relaxing smell to help you get to sleep! Although, we wouldn't recommend this mask to those with super oily or acne-prone skin types, as it may make your skin a little oily the next morning.

5. Laneige's Lip Sleeping Mask

Cold winter air is the number one killer of luscious lips! The Lip Sleeping Mask from Laneige is a K-Beauty fan favourite. It has a thick and gel-like consistency, and aids in the repair of dry, chapped lips. It also doesn't hurt that each of the flavours have an amazing scent. We recommend applying it right before bed. That way, you'll wake up with supple and soft lips in the morning!

6. Cosrx's Ultimate Moisturising Honey Overnight Mask

On the topic of overnight masks, this moisturising honey mask if a great alternative for those with oily or acne-prone skin types. The mask if moisturising, so it's great for when your skin needs a little hydrating pick-me-up in the winter (even oily skin types need hydration!!!), but it won't leave your skin feeling oily the next day. Also, honey is naturally antibacterial, making it great for the treatment and prevention of acne, and it's full of antioxidants which help prevent signs of ageing! This product has a gel-like formula, meaning you can use it as either a rinse off mask, or as an overnight mask.

7. Innisfree's No Sebum Blur Primer

Whilst a good skincare regime is key to getting smooth, blemish-free skin, a blurring primer can certainly help create a similar effect! This primer from Innisfree has a blurring effect, meaning it can assist in disguising any flaky spots you may have from the cold winter air. It also controls oil and sebum, making it great for all skin types! A good primer is a year-round must-have for any makeup lover!

8. Secret Key's Fresh Nature Toner

This toner comes in five different formulas, each targeting a different skincare need. For winter, we'd recommend the soothing aloe formulation, or the softening rose formulation. With no alcohol, oils, or parabens, all formulations of this toner are suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin types, which is perfect for those who suffer from winter irritation. Toners are great for an extra clean feel, but they also provide another level of nourishment and hydration to the face before thick creams and moisturisers lock that moisture in. It also doesn't hurt that the bottle is absolutely huge, whilst the price remains relatively low, meaning you get even more bang for your buck!

9. Benton's Snail Bee High Content Essence

Packed full of snail secretion filtrate, bee venom, and aloe vera - this essence is a miracle worker when it comes to winter-induced dry, itchy, or flaky skin. The snail secretion filtrate and aloe vera work together to soothe and relieve itchiness and redness caused by irritation, whilst bee venom helps to plump and rejuvenate dull skin. Snail secretion filtrate also has scientifically proven healing properties, and helps to reduce the visibility of acne scars! This essence is great for people of all skin types, as it also helps to control your skins oil-water balance. However, if you have a history of being hyper-sensitive to products, or if you're allergic to bees, we'd recommend a small patch test first before applying it on your face, just on the off chance there may be an unusual reaction.

10. Innisfree's My Real Squeeze Masks

Our number one recommendation for the coming winter - some well deserved self care and you-time! The cold nights are perfect for snuggling up in bed. We suggest you pop on a sheet mask, drink a warm drink, wrap yourself in some blankets, and pop on your favourite Netflix show!
