Most people think that every skincare product works in harmony, but the truth is that some products can't be used together as they could harm your skin.
It is vital to understand that most ingredients in serums, creams, moisturisers, and cleansers are terrific for your skin. But just because they are fabulous for your skin, you should apply them together.
Please note that some skincare ingredients, especially chemicals, can harm your skin complexion.
Here are some products that you should not combine and the ones that work excellently together.
Retinol and Alpha Hydroxy Acids
Retinol creams are considered anti-ageing workers, and alpha-hydroxy acids are used to soften fine lines and wrinkles. Even though they do a similar job of rejuvenating skin, it is not wise to combine them.
Both are amazing ingredients to revitalise skin, but when using them in combination can trigger irritating side effects. They can be harsh on the skin, so avoid using them together.
Vitamin C and Vitamin E
When you combine vitamin E with vitamin C, the results are better as the combination is an effective way to stop skin damage. Both vitamins work by preventing free radical damage, and each one fights different types of UV damage.
Hyaluronic Acid and Retinol
Retinol is a form of vitamin A known for its endless benefits, but dermatologists all will warn you about its drying effects. Retinol can irritate, so it is imperative to use proper moisturising.
That's why using a hydrating agent like hyaluronic acid can be unique.
Retinol will speed up cellular turnover while boosting collagen, while hyaluronic acid helps water penetrate the skin providing a glowing complexion.
You can combat retinol's dryness with hyaluronic acid.
You can use COSRX Hyaluronic Acid Hydra Power Essence to boost your skin's ability to retain moisture. This essence powerfully improves your skin cells from damage and stress. If your skin suffers from a lack of humidity, the COSRX Hyaluronic Acid Hydra Power Essence is your best option.
After cleansing and toning, apply a small amount of essence to your face. Carefully pat to promote absorption, and then go with a moisturiser such as COSRX Hyaluronic Acid Intensive Cream.
AHA and BHA
AHAs and BHA both work to remove dead skin on the surface. Using AHA and BHA continually will allow you to see and feel the smoother, younger-looking skin. Both exfoliants must be formulated within a narrow pH range, between 3 and 4.
They are both designed to be as effective and as gentle as possible. They have many benefits as they reduce fine lines and wrinkles, hydrate skin, and make skin look and feel firmer.
You can use AHA and BHA products on their own or use both at the same time. If you decide to use both simultaneously, make sure to monitor how your skin responds and adjust preferences as needed.
One of our favorites is the SOME BY MI Miracle Series AHA, BHA, PHA 30 Days that include toner, clear foam, cream, a cleansing bar, and serum.
Retinol and Peels
It is not recommended to use retinol alongside peels or waxing procedures. Dermatologists suggest that people avoid using retinol one or two days before and after peels and waxing as the skin can be irritated.
If waxing is done while using retinol, you can expect small tears in the skin. The same is true with peels, such as glycolic peels.
Avoid using SECRET KEY Lemon Sparkling Peeling Gel if you are using products with retinol. This peeling gel is perfect for those looking for a complete makeover as it removes impurities while exfoliating and revealing fresh skin.
Benzoyl Peroxide and Salicylic Acid
Suppose you are trying to cure breakouts and blemishes using benzoyl peroxide, and salicylic acid is a terrific idea. Both are used as pore cleansers, pore minimisers and provide total skin exfoliation. Together both ingredients excel when it comes to stopping your acne problems.
ROHTO MENTHOLATUM Acnes Medicated Anti-Bacteria Spot Dressing Day & Night speed up acne spot healing. These acne patches can be applied on a dry, cleansed face, and it comes with different sizes for different spots.
Once the patch absorbs the secretion, it changes colour to let you know the process—the perfect way to heal your acne properly.
