K-Beauty Lip Care For The Winter

Winter is here, which means it is time to prepare our skin with extra doses of moisturising. When the temperatures are freezing, and the wind is constantly blowing, we need to protect our skin with additional layers of moisturiser.

But we have to remember that there is another essential part of our face: our lips. If you want to look healthy, you need to take good care of your lips. If your lips are cracking and pale, it does not matter if your skin is glowing, you will look sick.

That’s why K-Pop idols such as SEVENTEEN’s S.Coups and Yunhyeong keep lip balms and lip tints as part of their beauty routine. Keep in mind that using a thin lip balm or Vaseline will not be enough during winter.

So, how do you keep your lips soft and pink during the cold winter?  Just take care of your lips with a skincare routine.

Let’s take a look at how your favourite K-Pop idols and Korean experts take care of their lips.

Koran Lip Care Routine

Exfoliate

BTS Jungkook begins his lip care routine by removing dead skin from his lips. To exfoliate your lips, you need your lips to be clean. Gently using a toothbrush or flannel remove dry skin.

You can exfoliate your lips by mixing one teaspoon of honey with two teaspoons of sugar. Softly massage the mixture into your lips.

Moisturise

After exfoliating your lips, take aloe vera gel and apply it all over your lips. Even male K-Pop idols such as BAP’s Yongguk uses this technique.

Our new favourite K-beauty product is HOLIKA HOLIKA Aloe 99% Soothing Gel as it helps to relieve heated or inflamed skin while giving it necessary moisture. It is free from parabens, glycol, benzophenone, propylene, animal ingredients, artificial colours, BHT, and mineral oils.

It is easily absorbed, and it has no tacky after-effects.

After applying Aloe Vera, you should keep using your lip balm. But you have to make sure to apply the lip balm like, Girls’ Generation Sunny does, upwards and downwards, following the natural lines of your lips. It is essential to do it this way to avoid damaging the layer of skin on your lips.

Always try your best to keep a lip balm at hand, never leave your house without one.

Use a Sleep Mask

Finally, to seal the moisture, you can use a sleeping mask or serum. The main purpose of these products is to seal all the water in and give your lips the final touch.

One of Korea's favourite is KLAVUU Nourishing Care Lip Sleeping Pack for its ability to lock in that extra moisture.

Apply it to your lips and surrounding regions that are prone to fine lines before you go to bed.

This Lip Sleeping Pack is enriched with three types of plant-derived oils, including Phyto Oil Complex, avocado, sweet almond, and apricot. KLAVUU Nourishing Care Lip Sleeping Pack is perfect for applying during cold and dry nights.

Another great option is LANEIGE Lip Sleeping Mask designed to repair your lips while you sleep. The formula is infused with Berry Enzyme Complex and Vitamin C. You can also wear it like a lip balm or underneath your lipstick, to moisturise and repair your lips throughout the day.

BONUS TIP

According to the makeup artist of Wanna One’s Minhyun if you want to deliver a more natural look, you need to find a watery lip tint with great pigmentation such as LABIOTTE Chateau Labiotte Wine Lip Tint.

LABIOTTE Chateau Labiotte Wine Lip Tint

Labiotte Wine Lip Tint is packaged to resemble a wine bottle, and it also contains ingredients derived from wine. They are super hydrating, highly pigmented, and are formulated, so they are not sticky and designed to last throughout your day or night.

To apply a lip tint like a Korean girl, follow these simple steps:

  1. Take your lip tint and wipe any excess pigment off the wand.
  2. Apply a very light wash of colour all over your lips
  3. Create the gradient effect, by concentrating a thick layer of colour in the centre of your lips
  4. Using your fingertip, blend the colour outwards. Remember, the colour should remain the lightest along the outer edges of your lips.
